Elsa Lanchester
(1902 – 1986)

Elisabeth Sullivan naceu o 28 de outubro de 1902 en Lewisham.

Casou con Charles Laughton en 1929.

Debutou na pantalla grande en 1933. O seu físico non o axudou a conseguir grandes papeis.

Realizou actuacións inesquecibles como a artista de The Killer Clock (J. Farrow, 1948) ou a bruxa de I namorouse dunha bruxa (R. Quine, 1958).

Traballou xunto ao seu marido, Charles Laughton, por primeira vez en The Private Life of Henry VIII (Alexander Korda, 1933).

Tamén en Yellow Flag (E. Pommer, 1938), e Testigo para a acusación (Billy Wilder, 1958), onde a súa verba interpretativa presentaba algunhas raias psicodramáticas.

A súa creación máis inesquecible foi encarnar a noiva de Frankenstein (J. Whale, 1935).

Elsa Lanchester faleceu en Woodland Hills, California, o 26 de decembro de 1986.
