Curtas Festival do Imaxinario will open five exhibitions at 8:30 pm on Friday, October 4. Two of them will be “O ano do Morcego” and “Justice Heroes” in homage to the creation of Batman by Bob Kane and Bill Finger. The character is celebrating his 85th anniversary this year. In addition, authors such as Jaime Martin will present the creative process of his works “Un Oscuro Manto” and “Lo que el viento lleva”, while Enrique V. Vegas will present a tour of his most characteristic works in “Cabezóns denominación de Orixe”. Finally, the nightmares imagined by H.P. Lovecraft will come to life with the pencils of Luis Camacho in the exhibition “Manual Zoomorfico”
“O ANO DO MORCEGO” Exhibition
On March 30, 1939, Bob Kane and Bill Finger published the story “The Case of the Chemical Syndicate” in Detective Comics magazine Nº27. In it, a superhero called The Bat-Man was born. 85 years later, having become a symbol of popular culture, the Curtas Festival do Imaxinario pays tribute to him with the help of numerous Spanish illustrators such as Jordi Bernet, Alfonso Azpiri, Maria Emege, Verónica Álvarez, Jorge Fornes, Javi Fernández, Chuma Hill, Salvador Larroca, Esteban Maroto Nekro, or Laura Pérez Vernetti, among more than fifty artists who will present their vision of the character.
“JUSTICE HEROES” Exhibition
To mark Batman’s 85th anniversary, the Curtas Festival do Imaxinario is hosting an exhibition on Batman and his fellow Justice League members. Life-size figures and numerous museum-quality replicas and statues will allow fans of Bob Kane and Bill Finger’s creation to feel closer to Gotham City.
“DOS URALES AOS PIRINEOS” Exhibition by Jaime Martín
Jaime Martín presents us with the graphic process of two of his most fantastic works. The recent “A Dark Cloak”, in which two women shrouded in mystery confront the prejudices and interests of a rural community. A masterful story marked by the suffocating weight of conventions and the courage of those who dare to escape from them. And “What the Wind Brings”, a story set in a village in the depths of pre-revolutionary Russia.
“CABEZÓNS DENOMINACIÓN DE ORIXE” Exhibition by Enrique Vegas
A tour through the work of Enrique V. Vegas with original pieces from some of his best-known works such as “War Diaries”, “Sweet Dreams”, “Big Head of the Rings”, “Big Head Jones”, “Jarri Potter”, “The Rise of Big Head”, “Big Head Game” or “The Big Head of the Road” among many others.
“H.P. LOVECRAFT MANUAL ZOOMÓRFICO” Exhibition by Luis Camacho
Art professor and Lovecraft expert Luis Camacho is the author of “Manual Zoomórfico,” a spectacular illustrated bestiary of H.P. Lovecraft’s work that includes a large number of the creatures that the writer from Providence depicted in his stories. Now we will have the opportunity to enjoy an incredible selection of representations of these cosmic horrors.
With the support of the City Council of Vilagarcía de Arousa and the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, and the collaboration of Corvus Belli and Gadis, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario will be held from October 25 to November 2 in Vilagarcía de Arousa to offer a selection of the best international fantasy.
