A Noite dos Mortos ao Vivo: Orchestrated Cinema to close Curtas 2025

The closing ceremony of the Short Imaginary Festival will be very special and will feature the premiere of a production by Curtas Festival do Imaxinario and the Vigo Classical Orchestra entitled A NOITE DOS MORTOS AO VIVO.

It will feature a screening of George A. Romero’s classic film “Night of the Living Dead” (1968), now presented in a completely new and immersive interpretation. While the film is projected on the screen, the Vigo Classical Orchestra will perform a live soundtrack specially selected for the occasion, replacing the original music with arrangements that intensify every moment of tension, fear, and drama. At the same time, a team of voice actors and actresses will perform the dialogue in Galician using a script created specifically for this show, thus offering a new narrative dimension that respects the spirit of the original work but with a fresh and culturally relevant approach for Galician audiences.

This artistic proposal aims to create an immersive cinematic experience that goes beyond the simple screening of a film, turning each performance into a unique theatrical event. The synchronization between symphonic music, live voices, and the images on the screen requires extraordinary technical and artistic precision, transforming cinema into a multidisciplinary art form. The result is a show that honors the legacy of classic horror cinema while offering contemporary audiences a complete sensory experience.
