The Spanish Film Academy has ratified the inclusion of the festival in the official list of qualifying festivals for the Goya Awards in the short fiction film category, consolidating the Vilagarcía festival as a key player in the national audiovisual circuit.

The designation as a qualifying festival is a guarantee of the strength of the programming and the rigor in the selection of works that the festival has maintained for years. In practical terms, the productions that are part of our Fantastic Official Selection in Competition acquire added value for their path to the Goya Awards. From now on, our Official Selection acts as a direct route to the Academy awards in two ways: the winner of the Best National Fantastic Short Film award at Curtas Festival do Imaxinario is automatically eligible to register for the Goya Awards, while the simple fact of being selected in our Official Selection adds points to help filmmakers reach the minimum number of selections or awards required by the Academy to submit their short film to the Goyas.

Curtas Festival do Imaxinario will hold its 54th edition from October 23 to November 1 with the institutional support of the Concello de Vilagarcía de Arousa, the Deputación de Pontevedra, and the Xunta de Galicia, and the sponsorship of De Angeles Films, Gadis, and Rei Zentolo.
