Curtas Festival do Imaxinario unveils the official poster for its 54th edition. Once again created by Argentine illustrator Flavio Greco, this artwork transports us to a setting steeped in local mysticism: Cortegada Island. A natural enclave that rises from the heart of the Ría de Arousa, just off the coast of Carril, and has long concealed secrets within the dense woodland of its ancient forests.

Greco captures a moment of unsettling tension in which two young festival fans come face to face with the ineffable in their search for adventure. The artwork not only evokes nostalgia by paying tribute to the adventure classics of the 1980s and to cosmic horror, where the unknown lies beyond all logic and human understanding, but also reimagines a legend that haunted the people of the region for generations: the Urco. A gigantic, spectral, demonic black dog, bearer of ill omens, which, according to local folklore, would swim across the estuary on stormy nights, spreading fear wherever it appeared. In Flavio Greco’s illustration, this mythical figure is reimagined as an eldritch horror that transcends our reality, reminding us that at Curtas Festival do Imaxinario, tradition and modernity, the imaginary and the fantastic, always walk hand in hand.

A visual narrative that serves as a prelude to October 23 – November 1, 2026, when Vilagarcía de Arousa will once again become the epicentre of fantastic cinema. Reaffirming its commitment to art and to its community, the festival invites everyone to take part in an edition created for those who still possess the ability to be amazed by the imaginary.
