On January 29, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario became a partner festival of the Premios Fugaz. Today, the festival organization is delighted to announce some great news: after evaluating the work carried out, Cortoespaña has decided to name it a qualifying festival for the Premios Fugaz, the Spanish short film awards.

With this designation, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario becomes the only qualifying festival for these awards in Galicia and the only national festival focused on the fantasy genre.

In practice, this means that the short film winning the festival’s national section will have direct access to the Short List of the Premios Fugaz. The film will go directly to the committee of industry professionals to compete for nominations in all categories, provided that it meets the awards’ usual eligibility requirements and has not previously participated.

This designation represents an important recognition that will help the festival continue to grow and give greater visibility to the work of the creators who place their trust in it. The festival thus continues its journey, step by step, so that cinema and the fantastic genre can continue to have the best possible showcase.

Very soon, we will announce the selected films for the 54th edition of Curtas Festival do Imaxinario, which will take place from October 23 to November 1, 2026, in Vilagarcía de Arousa, with institutional support from the Concello de Vilagarcía de Arousa, the Deputación de Pontevedra and the Xunta de Galicia, and sponsorship from De Angeles Films, Rei Zentolo, Acción Cultural Española, DCP Ready, Factoria do Lume, Gadis, Harald House and The Post Office.
