The Omen (Curtas Halloween Experience)
Director: Richard Donner
Cast: Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, Harvey Stephens
The exclusive and classic Halloween Experience of Curtas Festival do Imaxinario will focus its entire atmosphere and terrifying prominence on the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of The Omen.
Directed by Richard Donner and released in 1976, The Omen is one of the crowning achievements of supernatural horror cinema and a true modern classic about incarnate evil. The plot revolves around Robert Thorn, an American diplomat who, following the stillbirth of his son, agrees to secretly adopt a newborn named Damien, unaware that the child is actually the Antichrist. As Damien grows, a series of macabre and inexplicable deaths begin to happen around the family, revealing a sinister prophecy that Father Brennan and other witnesses try to uncover. With suffocating suspense, a darkly memorable score by Jerry Goldsmith (which included the iconic theme “Ave Satani”), and outstanding performances led by Gregory Peck and Lee Remick, the film has established itself as an unavoidable benchmark of the genre that still today, half a century later, continues to terrify and fascinate new generations.
The boldest diners who manage to secure a spot in this experience will plunge into a “clandestine” banquet where haute cuisine, with a gourmet menu designed by chef Miguel Mosteiro (Gastrolab Arousa), merges with projection and live entertainment. Guided by actors dressed for the occasion, attendees will receive an envelope upon arrival assigning them a secret role—from photographers to exorcists or Damien’s heirs—turning them into direct participants in a synchronized menu, choral duels, rituals, and the tension of a prophecy that reaches half a century while testing the survival of everyone present.
The menu crafted by Miguel Mosteiro consists of:
- The Baylock Specialty
Roman-style potato gnocchi with parmesan, noisette butter, and sage. - It’s All for You, Damien
Scotch egg. - The Jennings Cut
Confit artichoke with pecorino, black olive, hazelnuts, and lemon. - Daggers of Megiddo
Tender, glazed lamb with smoked eggplant and pomegranate. - The Mark 666
66% chocolate with cherry, cocoa, and vanilla.
