At Curtas Festival do Imaxinario, the experience doesn’t end when the lights go up in the theater. We transform Vilagarcía de Arousa into a meeting point for creators and fans. Our parallel activities and events are the perfect complement to enjoy between screenings.

EXHIBITIONS

Every year, we transform our spaces into world-class art galleries. The exhibitions at the Curtas Festival do Imaxinario are renowned for the quality and exclusivity of their material.

  • What you’ll see: From original artwork by great masters of international comics and illustration to displays of props and objects used in the filming of iconic films of the genre. A visual journey through the history of pop culture.
  • Fun fact: Many of these pieces are never before seen or rarely leave private collections. Others are our own creations. Each exhibition is a world unto itself. But you certainly haven’t experienced them before in Galicia.

MEETINGS AND MASTERCLASSES

We break down the barrier between artist and audience. We bring together directors, actors, illustrators, and writers to share their secrets, not from a pedestal, but in an intimate setting.

  • What you’ll experience: Q&A sessions, roundtables on the state of the fantasy genre, book presentations, and masterclasses where you’ll learn everything you’ve always wanted to know about the genre.
  • Signing Sessions: The perfect opportunity to take home your comic, poster, or film signed by its creators.

WORKSHOPS AND COURSES

A space dedicated to intensive, hands-on training, where audiovisual and creative professionals share their secrets and techniques in a close-knit environment.

  • What you’ll find: Masterclasses in screenwriting and directing genre short films, workshops on characterization and special effects (FX) makeup, and intensive courses in fantasy illustration and concept art. MUSICAL SCREENINGS AND CONCERTS

At Curtas Festival do Imaxinario, image and sound merge on stage, offering a synesthetic experience that transcends the confines of the theater seat.

  • What you’ll find: Unique performances where iconic soundtracks (from horror, fantasy, or science fiction) are performed live by orchestras or specialized groups. Sometimes, this takes place while the film is projected. It’s the perfect opportunity to experience a cinematic classic with the intensity of a live performance and feel the energy of the music.

FANTASTIC VEHICLES

The place where the most legendary movie vehicles leap off the screen and park right in front of you.

  • What you’ll find: Life-size replicas of the cars that shaped pop culture, from time machines on wheels to Ghostbusters patrol cars. It’s the must-see spot to get the ultimate profile picture and feel, for a moment, like the star of your favorite movie.

SAMAIN ARREPIANTE

The official Halloween celebration of Curtas Festival do Imaxinario, an event where Galician traditions and cinematic horror merge to create a unique immersive experience.

What you’ll find:

  • Gourmet Cinematic Experience: An immersive themed experience featuring a classic film screening, paired with a select gourmet experience and in-theater entertainment.
  • Street Events: Entertainment and shows that fill Vilagarcía with mystery, including costume contests (individual and group).
  • Workshops and Traditions: FX characterization activities, pumpkin carving, and other fun events for all ages.

ARTIST ALLEY AND CURIOUS OBJECTS FAIR

Artist Alley is the space where emerging and established talent showcase their work.

  • What you’ll find: Illustrators selling prints, fanzines, and original art, alongside themed crafts, exclusive merchandise, and specialized bookstores. It’s the ideal place to find that unique gift you won’t find on Amazon.

The Curious Objects Fair is the place where collecting, nostalgia, and the unusual come together to offer a different shopping experience.

  • What you’ll find: From vintage action figures and video store rarities to fantastical jewelry and handcrafted pieces. It’s the perfect spot to find that hidden treasure to take home.

GAMES ROOM

Fantasy is also a form of play, and that’s why we’ve created a space dedicated to interactive entertainment.

  • What you’ll play: A selection of video games (retro and current), virtual reality demonstrations, and a large library of board games and role-playing games to enjoy with friends or family.

STREET EVENTS

Sometimes, the magic of cinema leaps onto the stage to surprise the audience.

  • Performances: Street parades, cosplay, and live events fill the streets of Vilagarcía with color and otherworldly characters.
