Curtas brings together 78 short films and 7 music videos from 29 countries, featuring 79 premieres in its 54th edition

Curtas Festival do Imaxinario once again places short films at the heart of its programming. The 54th edition will bring together 85 short-format works, including 78 short films and 7 music videos, hailing from 29 countries.

The selection maintains one of the defining working lines of the festival: discovering new voices and offering the Galician public access to works that have not yet had a run in our territory. In this edition, 78 of the selected works will arrive with some type of premiere: 12 of them will be world premieres, 3 will be the work’s first international screening, 5 will be a European premiere, 25 in Spain, and 33 will have their premiere in Galicia.

With this selection, the International Fantastic Film Festival of Galicia reinforces its commitment to a fantastic cinema open to new perspectives, languages, and forms of expression, with special attention to emerging voices and proposals that explore the limits of the genre.

The Fantastic Official Section, featuring 66 short films, brings together a broad representation of contemporary fantastic cinema, with works coming from Europe, America, Asia, and Oceania. Horror, science fiction, fantasy, dark humor, and harder-to-classify proposals coexist in a selection that combines emerging filmmakers with established auteurs.

Among the section’s world premieres are Carne, by Pasquale Russo; Dagon, by Olivier Beguin; Dark Night, by Nafiseh Zohari; Period., by Nikola Petrovic; Plato Estrella, by Roberto Del Castar; Sakana, by Yun-Rei Chuang; Sheep Code, by Ali Rahmati; Oumuamua, by Iker Iturria;  and Turn it down, by Niels Bourgonje.

The programming is completed by Made in Galicia, which brings together six works of Galician creation; Fantastic Vertical Contest, a new section dedicated to the 9:16 format, with six selected proposals; and Fantastic Videoclips, which incorporates seven music videos into the program.
