Curtas establishes alliance with Lusca Film Fest to boost cinema between Galicia and Puerto Rico

Curtas Festival do Imaxinario announces a new strategic alliance with the Lusca Film Fest, the Caribbean’s leading fantastic film festival. This agreement consolidates a cultural bridge that will directly connect emerging genre film talent between Galicia and Puerto Rico, facilitating a programming exchange designed to help new audiences discover unique voices and narratives from both territories.

Como eje central de esta colaboración, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario will host a curated selection of Puerto Rican short films. This showcase will highlight works that have been part of recent LUSCA editions, representing the best of current Caribbean fantastic cinema to the Galician public.

Por su parte, the special program “Galicia Imaxinaria” will travel to Puerto Rico through the Lusca Film Fest. This representative sample of Galician audiovisual talent in the science fiction, horror, and fantasy genres will allow the Puerto Rican audience to experience firsthand the aesthetic and thematic diversity of fantastic productions created in Galicia.

“This alliance represents exactly the type of cultural bridge we seek to build: real connections between creative communities that share a passion for fantastic cinema,” expressed Zoilo Rodríguez, founder and director of the Lusca Film Fest. “We are excited to open this corridor between Puerto Rico and Galicia, not only for exhibition but as a foundation for future collaborations, co-productions and development of talent.”

The exchange between both festivals not only expands the international reach of their respective programs but also strengthens a global network of festivals dedicated to genre cinema. By fostering creative dialogue and the circulation of works beyond their borders, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario and Lusca Film Fest reaffirm their commitment to the internationalization of genre film and the creation of new opportunities for emerging filmmakers worldwide.
