Manuel Losada and Santipérez united in Tales from the Threshold.

Curtas Festival do Imaxinario announces a new top-tier collaboration for its 2026 edition. Writer Manuel Losada, a benchmark in Galician thriller and mystery, and illustrator Santipérez, whose technique and style fascinated the audience in the festival’s previous edition, will be in charge of bringing this year’s nightmares to life. They will do so through a hybrid project combining digital and physical formats titled “Historias desde o Limiar” (Tales from the Threshold).

This synergy seeks to expand the narrative background that Curtas Festival do Imaxinario is developing for the 2026 edition, which tells the story of a struggle to maintain the stability of our reality against primeval shadows and creatures lurking on the other side of the “threshold,” threatening to slip into our world.

Losada’s stories, brought to life through Santipérez’s art, will function as a prequel, allowing the public to delve into this battle for reality before the festival begins. The tales will be published periodically online, culminating in a physical volume titled “Historias desde o Limiar”, which marks the return of the editorial line that had been interrupted since 2020.

The first of these stories is already available to enjoy by clicking here.

From pixel to paper: the mythology of the Imaxinario

In a pioneering initiative, Curtas Festival do Imaxinario is building its own thematic universe around the festival. In 2026, this mythology will come to life months before the opening. The stories and illustrations will function as pieces of the same narrative mechanism and will allow the public to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the event in advance.

The organization highlights the value of this union: “For Curtas Festival do Imaxinario it is a true honor to have the pen of Manuel Losada and the art of Santipérez. We had been wanting to collaborate for a long time due to their mastery in weaving chilling plots and creating hypnotic visual worlds. This collaboration allows us to develop the lore we have been working on since last year and for the mythology of Curtas Festival do Imaxinario 2026 to take on a life of its own”.
